How to implement digital transformation in multinational corporations
As I'm progressing in the course Leading digital transformation offered by Massachusetts Institute of technology (scolarship given by Santander Unviersidades) I'd like to share with you my vision about how to implement the digital transformation in multinational corporations.
First of all, I would prepare information for each country context and ensure that every country is represented with the best candidates evaluated by soft skills, empathy, culture awareness and also performance. This process will ensure a perfect combination considering results and interpersonal skills such as being prepared to deal and respect other cultures. It’s a must that the team has to be composed by not only different nationalities, but also different departments ensuring the full view of the company and generate synergy. The combination of cross-country and cross-division can generate the perfect environment for the digital transformation in an interconnected world.
Once I have the top candidates selected, it’s very important to give them information about the other cultures and how to not misinterpret their new partners and educate them into a cross-culture way of relation and work. Also, to ensure the synergy it will be some courses and out-of-office activities to get the full group involved and committed with company’s values, mission, and vision. One of the key points of this team would be the synergy and being aligned with the digital transformation but not forgetting their particular, cultural and department differences, this last 3 characteristics become a source of value.
The last step would be set a horizontal vision of the teams with a constant flow of feedback to get the digital transformation always optimized and give a constant formation with a wide view of the dynamic environment that the company works. With this strategy, we can assume that we have a committed team, with knowledge and tools to communicate and express with other cultures and good performance to lead the company’s growth. All this process has to be led by a method based in agile key points and way of work.
